Lady Warriors capture second place for best-ever finish at state meet

Juli Warren and Saydria Russell hug their other two teammates Ellyse Russell and Kristen Collingwood after winning the 400-yard freestyle relay during the 3A State Swimming Meet at the Gillette Aquatic Center on Friday. The team fell behind Jackson in the beginning of the third leg, but Warren closed the gap at the end and Ellyse Russell finished it off as the final leg - beating Jackson by six-hundredths of a second.

GILLETTE – The Lady Warriors made history in the state pool on Friday, swimming to a second-place finish in the team standings – behind only Jackson that won its fourth championship in a row.

Saydria and Ellyse Russell both won individual state titles and were both on the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relay teams that captured state titles as well.
