WORLAND - East Side Elementary Principal Linda Anderson will be retiring at the end of the 2015/2016 school year.

Anderson attended college for two years at Casper College and then went on to the University of Wyoming where she majored in education and educational administration. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in education and educational administration and a Master of Arts in education and educational administration.

"I decided to go into education because I love learning and I love children," Anderson said.

Anderson served as the principal in the Ten Sleep schools for four years before becoming the principal at East Side Elementary School in 1996, where she has resided for the last 20 years.

Before becoming a principal, Anderson was a teacher in a rural school in Linch, Wyoming for five years. She taught second through sixth graders all subjects. "It was a rural school, so I taught music and physical education. I taught everything to all grades. It was perfect," She said.

"I will miss the kids and the teachers and the smiles and genuine love." Anderson said.

After retirement, Anderson will be travelling to Tanzania for mission work at a school there for three months. After returning, she plans to do volunteer work in the community.

Superintendent David Nicholas said, "Linda has been here over two decades and she is kind of like Joe Bishop. She has been a cornerstone for East Side. For many years she served as our special education director. She is going off on a great adventure; she is headed to Tanzania for mission work and will continue to serve others in Africa which is amazing."
