Worland schools sponsor summer food program again

WORLAND – As school comes to close, parents of summer school students and children under 18 can take advantage of the Summer Food Service Program that will give out free breakfasts, lunches and snacks.

The program, sponsored by the Washakie County School District No. 1, will give a free breakfast, lunch and snacks to summer school students and anyone child under 18 is willing to stop by the school Monday through Friday.

There is no application or registration required, and Superintendent David Nicholas said, “The schools have been doing this for a decade or a decade and a half.”

The free breakfasts, lunches and snacks will be at various schools district-wide including: East Side Elementary, West Side Elementary, Worland Youth Learning Center and Worland Middle School.

East Side Elementary School

East Side Elementary School will provide free breakfast from 8 – 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 – noon to students and children 18 and under from June 1 to June 28.

West Side Elementary School

West Side Elementary School will provide free breakfast from 8 – 8:30 a.m., lunch from 11:35 – noon and a snack from 3 – 3:15 p.m. from July 2 to July 15.

Worland Youth Learning Center at the Worland Community Center Complex

Worland Youth Learning Center at the Worland Community Center Complex will give out free lunches from 11:30 – noon and snacks from 3 – 3:30 from June 6 to Aug. 5. Students do not have to be enrolled at the Center to receive a free lunch and snack.

Worland Middle School

Worland Middle School will give out a free breakfast for summer school students and any child under 18 who stops by from May 31 to June 30 from 8:50 – 9:10 a.m.
