Byron Milton Ford

February 24, 1939 – June 4, 2016 Byron Ford, age 77, of Ten Sleep, Wyoming, died peacefully in his sleep after an eight-month long battle with small cell lung cancer. He was born in Hayden, CO to W. Howard and Myrtle O. Ford. He grew up in Colorado, and along the Wyoming-Nebraska border with his brother Robert. Byron attended and played varsity football for Cherry Creek High School in Denver, graduating in 1957. He earned his B.S. from University of Colorado at Boulder (1964), and M.S. in Computer Science/Mathematics from Johns Hopkins University (1969). During his career, Byron worked at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory and the Department of Defense as an independent consultant. Byron and his wife Shirley raised two sons Greg and Barry (Matt) in Laurel, Maryland. Together, they enjoyed traveling, fine dining, going to the race track, and horseback riding. In 1996, the couple moved to Colorado with their grandchildren Buddy and Jessica. In retirement, they raised Icelandic horses in Ten Sleep, WY. Byron is preceded in death by both of his parents; his brother Robert; and his son Barry (Matt). He is survived by his wife Shirley; son Greg; grandchildren Buddy and Jessica; and his great-grandchildren Thayne and Trenton. A memorial will be held at 2:00pm on July 10, 2016 at the Ten Sleep Senior Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the Spirit Mountain Hospice House in Cody, WY.
