Lucille Justus

Longtime Worland resident, Margaret Lucille Justus, passed away in Kalispell, Montana on July 8, 2016 at age 86.

Lucille was born in Worland on November 8, 1929, a daughter of Margaret (Lass) and Carl Lungren. She was raised on farms in the Worland area and attended the Durkee School before attending Washakie County High School where she graduated. Lucille then worked for the Washakie County Extension Service.

She married Alvin Justus in Worland on June 4, 1950. The couple then owned and operated their own farm. Lucille loved being a farm wife and she often cooked for the farm crews. They retired and moved into town in 1974.

Her family was the highlight of her life and she enjoyed fixing special meals for them on holidays. She was known for her great cakes and pies. She also had taken care of her father, Carl, for many years after the passing of her mother.

She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was devoted to playing the organ for more than 50 years for Sunday services, weddings and funerals. She was an active member of the Worland Does where she was the lodge musician for 5 years. Lucille volunteered at the Worland hospital and was part of the hospital auxiliary.

Her hobbies included cooking & baking, canning, gardening and being a musician.

Lucille moved to Thermopolis in 2013 where she lived at the Wyoming Pioneer Home. In November 2015 she moved to Kalispell, Montana to be near her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband Alvin in 1993.

Lucille is survived by her daughters Gail (Dan) Dover of Worland and Diane (Ted) Schlegel of Kalispell, MT; by her sister Carlene (Bob) Snider of Titusville, Florida; and by her grandchildren Justin Dover of Worland and Jessica (Mike) Pacheco of Aurora, Colorado.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11:00am at Zion Lutheran Church in Worland. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Worland.
