Fugitive at-large in Washakie County

Colorado man evades law enforcement Monday night

May 24, 2017

WORLAND – A Colorado felon wanted on multiple drug charges escaped from local law enforcement officials Monday night, swimming across a canal near Highway 433/West River Road, and evading police well into Tuesday when the Washakie County Sheriff's Office issued a fugitive notice for Michael Patrick Kerr.

On the evening of May 22, at approximately 9:05 p.m., county officers attempted to arrest Kerr on a Colorado warrant for contempt of court and drug activity, when the fugitive escaped on foot, according to a press release from the Washakie County Sheriff's Office. At approximately 5:47 a.m. Tuesday, officers again attempted to catch Kerr, who swam across a canal along West River Road and disappeared.

While local law enforcement searches for the subject, residents are advised that Kerr is a convicted car thief, and may be looking for transportation. Area homeowners are advised to keep vehicles, outbuildings and homes locked and do not attempt to subdue the subject.

Kerr is described as 6-feet tall, 185 pounds, brown hair and eyes, with multiple tattoos and earrings.

If you have any tips or need to report any suspicious activity, please contact the Washakie County Dispatch at 307-347-2242.
