Ten Sleep resumes search for new principal

April 6, 2018

TEN SLEEP – Ten Sleep School social studies teacher Dane Weaver, who was recently hired for the 2018-2019 principal position, has decided to not accept the job due to medical issues. Weaver instead will continue to be the middle/ high school social studies teacher.

“I have had some health problems come up that would impair me from taking the position especially in August. My wife and I talked about it and we felt that it would be in the best interest of the school, the community and the amazing students and faculty,” Weaver said.

Weaver went on to explain that that the principal position requires strong leadership and while he was ecstatic to have been hired for the position, he felt that he couldn’t be the strong leader the school expected and deserves.

Ten Sleep School superintendent Jimmy Phelps said that he felt Weaver would have made an exceptional principal and he’s sorry that Weaver will be unable to fill the position. “He’s an exceptional person and we are very glad he’s here and very glad he is going to continue to be here,” Phelps said.

The district has begun a search for a new principal to replace Russell Budmayr whose resignation for personal reasons was accepted by the Ten Sleep School Board March 12.
