A funeral service for John Keith Johnson, 78, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 5, 2024 at the Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel in Wheatland, Wyoming.

John Johnson passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland surrounded by his family.

John was born on Thursday, June 7, 1945 in Basin, Wyoming the son of Fredrick Earl and Penelope Jane "Penny" (Gordon) Johnson.

John was reared and educated in Basin and graduated high school in 1963. After graduation he attended Northwest Community College. He served in the United States Army and once he was honorably discharged, he returned to college and received his associate degree and went to the University of Wyoming for a year. John married Margaret Louise "Peg" Gentzler on August 4, 1968 in Basin. John had various jobs around the Big Horn area before they moved to Wheatland in 1978 when he went to work for Basin Electric Power Plant. He worked for the power plant for 26 years. They retired to the Big Horns where he loved being. Some of his hobbies included, camping, gold prospecting, wood working, and most of all spending time with all of his family.

He is survived by his wife, Peg Johnson of Wheatland; children, Donna Arlene (Dale) Dawson and Brian Keith (Amy Anderson) Johnson; grandson, Dante Thane Dawson, all of Wheatland; siblings, Eleanor Bronnenberg, Marylou Doyle, and Larry Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fredrick Johnson on August 24, 1986; mother, Penelope "Penny" Johnson on December 18, 2008; and infant sister, Margaret Louise Johnson on February 15, 1942.

A memorial to the Marge Care's Foundation, P.O Box 155, Glendo, Wyoming 82213 would be appreciated by the family.
