BAPC welcomes new member and officers

January 11, 2024

In the absence of former Board of Adjustment and Planning Commission (BAPC) members Scott Fritzler, Landis Benson and Mike Dykman who reached the end of their term limits at the end of 2023, the BAPC welcomed a new member to the commission, Worland resident Steve Siebert. Two seats still remain open on the board.

Given that Fritzler and Benson were the board’s previous chairman and vice chairman respectively, the board additionally had to elect a new chairman and vice chairman. Nominations were made for board member Dan Fredrick as chairman and James Donahue as vice chairman. No other nominations were made, and both members were elected to their new positions.

APPROVALS

Building official representative Jesse Frisbee brought to the board the plans for an added sewer service for a two-lot simple subdivision at 2105 Big Horn Ave. Frisbee said when the property was last brought up a year ago, “The issue at that time, was that there was a shared sewer service that went into Brian and Tracy Myers’ property. They didn’t agree on an easement on this, so Jon Haynes went ahead and installed a new sewer service for the house that is in the front.” Donahue recalled that it was originally one property, which is why there was a shared sewer system. Frisbee added that both lots will be owned by the same person.

The added sewer service resolves the previous issues and the board approved of Haynes addition.

The board also approved of a home business at 123 Pleasant View Drive for Steve Wiecki who will be running an automotive window tinting business. Wiecki was also granted approval to display a sign larger than ordinance due to the location of his garage, which is where the sign will be. Ordinance allows for a two-by-two foot sign, but because the garage is located roughly 80 feet away from the road, Wiecki requested and attained approval for a three-by-five foot sign.

OTHER BUSINESS

Frisbee gave the board an update on changes to the Vega property at 2009 Big Horn Ave. According to Frisbee, Vega will be relocating parking spaces on the property, as well as adding more parking spaces. When the plan is completed, the property will have four bays with overhead garage doors, landscaping that meets the requirements and a new business sign displayed on the property. The plan will additionally allow for moderate hazard storage, which was part of the original plan but was changed due to a clerical error. Frisbee also said that the water service line will be separated from trailer houses located behind the building.

Fredrick reiterated that the state fire marshal approved of the new usage for the property, and Frisbee added that the fire marshal has been monitoring the property.

According to Frisbee, Vega was granted one year to complete all of the changes made to the property.

Worland City Clerk/Treasurer Tracy Glanz said the library and general parking lot agreement with Washakie County is currently in the works to ensure that the county follows the code and agreement.

Moving forward, the BAPC plans to meet at 12:05 p.m. to allow members additional travel time to the meetings. The board meets the second and fourth Mondays of each month.
