Cecile Katherine Ludicke

WORLAND — Cecile Katherine Ludicke, 96, passed away May 6, 2008 at the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Cecile was born on Aug. 14, 1911 in Harvard, Clay County, Neb. to John and Margaret (Deines) Hohnstein.

She graduated from Worland High School in 1930. She worked for Reed’s Drug Store in Worland and then became a telephone operator for Mountain Bell Telephone Company where she was the chief operator for a short time.  On Jan. 4, 1947 she married Rex Ludicke in Red Lodge, Mont.  Rex passed away in 1990. Cecile moved to the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in October of 2001.

Cecile loved to read and watch television.  She also enjoyed spending time with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Elizabeth Troseth; brothers, George, Lawrence and Harry Hohnstein; and step-sisters, Genevieve, Clara and Tina.

She is survived by one nephew, Jack Troseth of Worland; a great-nephew, John Troseth, Jr. of Nashville, Tenn.; and a great-niece, Kathryn Snook of Missoula, Mont.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 12 at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel in Worland. The cremains will be placed in the Columbarium at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church following the services. Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Geraldine Patricia “Pat” Wallingford

THERMOPOLIS — Geraldine Patricia “Pat” Wallingford, 85, died Wednesday, May 7 in Thermopolis surrounded by family after a courageous battle with old age.

She was born March 18, 1923 in Red Lodge, Mont., the daughter of Michel J. and Maggie (McKeone) McCabe. As her mother died when she was young, her father, brothers and sisters, especially Margaret, assisted in her upbringing. She attended and graduated from Red Lodge high school in May 1941. She then attended St. Scholastica School of Nursing in Duluth, Minn. on a five years degree scholarship program.

Due to the shortage of nurses during WW II, the government started The Nurse Corps.  Planning to be an Army nurse, she transferred to Billings St. Vincent’s School of Nursing, graduating in August 1945. The war ended three days before she graduated.  She worked at the Billings Hospital and Red Lodge Clinic before coming to Thermopolis in 1945 where she was a nurse at the hospital on the hill. She later was employed at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital, then became Director of Nursing at the Wyoming Pioneer Home until retirement.

On Oct. 23, 1948 she married John Norman Wallingford in Thermopolis. They resided in Thermopolis and were married for 55 years. Pat worked along side Norman on the family ranch with brandings and ranch duties. They also enjoyed fishing together.

She was an active member of the Catholic Church Altar Society and bible study. She was an original member of the Holy Cats, singing and performing for 15 years. A caring person, she was a caregiver to many. Her hobbies included Brazilian embroidery, reading, swimming, pinochle, dancing and visiting with friends. Her sense of humor will be remembered by many.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Tom and James McCabe; two sisters, Margaret Hoehn and Helen Huntington; and her husband, 2003.

Survivors include her son, Doug (Cindy) Wallingford of Thermopolis; daughters, Kathy Wallingford of Thermopolis and Connie (Mike) Lohse of Kaycee, Wyo.; three grandsons, Shiloh Wallingford of Cody, Clint Lohse of Washington, D.C. and Reo Lohse of Kaycee; two granddaughters, Amber Wallingford of Thermopolis and Sadie Eckley of Rock Springs; and great grandchild, Tymber Eckley.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 12 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Monument Hill Cemetery. A Parish Vigil will be Sunday evening, 7 p.m. at the church. Father Hugo Blotsky will officiate.
