WORLAND - Three Paintrock FFA members placed in the top 10 in the nation at the National FFA Convention last month.

Seniors Brianna Jolley and Madi Edeler competed in a group project in food products and processing systems and were awarded a gold emblem with an eighth-place overall.

Sophomore Ky Sorenson competed with an individual project in food products and processing systems. Sorenson placed ninth overall and was awarded a silver medal.

According to FFA Advisor Jared Boardman, after winning their divisions at the state FFA science fair last spring, Jolley, Edeler and Sorenson sent their final papers off to be judged by the national committee with only the top 15 papers invited to Louisville, Ky., as national finalists.

In Louisville the top 15 were interviewed and ranked from first to 15th and given the designation of silver or gold.

Boardman said Paintrock FFA has had teams compete at the national convention before but this was the first year they competed with science fair projects.

"We learned quite a bit that will make us better going forward. I think we did pretty good for our first year," Boardman said.
