Police not first option with locked vehicles

Most law enforcement agencies have policies against unlocking vehicle

WORLAND – Many years ago, if a motorist locked their keys in the car, the police department would gladly assist, but with the development of technology, that service has become more difficult and in some cases impossible. Using the traditional way, a slim jim, which is a flat metal bar inserted into the car door to pull up the lock mechanism, can cause minor to severe damage and may not work at all making the damage unjustified.
