It's a sweetheart stroll Friday

Come Stroll with your Sweethearts during the Second Friday ArtStroll and Still Strolling Saturday in downtown Thermopolis this weekend.

Stroll hours on Friday evening are 5-8 p.m. with Saturday strolling during regular business hours.

Brendan Liam, from Laramie, is Flying Eagle Gallery’s featured artist with his Apocalypse Art Show. On Friday evening at 6 p.m. Liam will give a talk: “Somewhere between fine art and street art, between faith and fiction, and from a future in the past, Art of the Apocalypse.” This unique form of art will amaze viewers and may draw out emotions not usually felt when viewing art. The Art of the Apocalypse show will be at the Gallery until the end of February.

Several activities will take place at the Hot Springs County Museum, Friday evening and Saturday.

Dick Hall will recite love poems and cowboy poetry during Friday evening’s stroll at 7 p.m. Hall will also give a talk about the history of traditional and cowboy poetry.

Also at Hot Springs County Museum you’ll find Claudia Augustin, photography; Lynn Burton, fairy babies and fun gift items; Jennifer Taylor, handmade goat soaps; Jennie Blakesley, with her jewelry, and Terry Sani with his bird decoys.

Cory Whitt will be the featured artist at WOW Store. Whitt makes roses from silk and other materials and is just starting to build her art business. She can make wedding bouquets, gifts and flowers that can last a lifetime. Other textile artists at the WOW Store include Andrea Linn, Joyce Fletcher, Jane Oldridge.

Debbie Stroppel will have photography on display at Owl Creek Graphic. Owl Creek is the host for this month’s stroll. Be sure to return your completed map to Owl Creek Graphics at the end of Friday evening’s stroll.

The stroll welcomes Tess Lackey to lineup, according to organizer Toddi Darlington. Lackey will have charcoal and graphite art on display at One Eyed Buffalo Brewing. Sallie Wesaw will be in her studio and will talk about painting and mixed media art. Mike Howland will join Wesaw at Wesaw Studio to provide music Friday evening.

Cindy Toth will be showing textiles at Gooseberry Garden Quilt Shop and at Hazel N Pearl’s you will find Mona Wilson with her painting on vintage items and gifts for your sweethearts. While at Hazel N Pearl’s enjoy live music by Harold Hutson & Michael Wright.

Continue your stroll to Nature’s Corner to enjoy the art of Gayle Phipps who will have oil, pastel and photography on display — plus raspberry jams for sale. Rick Phipps & Shawn McWilliams will be providing music.

Friday evening and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. is the monthly art activity, at Hot Springs County Museum. Come to the workshop and go home with a picture you can hang on the wall. Bring a frame, a picture, a screwdriver and any matting material you may choose to use and Smoking Waters Art Guild member Claudia Augustin will show you how to put it all together. Some materials will be available for a fee.

Still Strolling Saturday continues with sweetheart deals in downtown businesses and other things for you and all your valentines to enjoy.

Saturday people can stroll to the Hot Springs County library from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the Chocolate Lover’s Party. There is a fee per plate. Enjoy live music by Harold Hutson as you and your sweetheart enjoy a plate of chocolate. Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Library.

End your ArtStroll activities Saturday evening at 8 p.m. at One Eyed Buffalo Brewing Company for the Sweetheart’s Sip and Paint. The fee includes all the material you will need to take home your painting of “Snowy Night” on a growler.
