Cheyenne bank robber may have used Colorado vehicle to get away

March 9, 2016

CHEYENNE – New details about the suspect in a Cheyenne bank robbery have been released by the FBI.

A man wearing a light blue surgical mask and heavy jacket robbed the Warren Federal Credit Union at gunpoint around 11:20 a.m. Feb. 29 and got away with cash. The bank is located in Safeway at 700 South Greeley Highway in Cheyenne.

Special Agents describe the man as white or light-skinned black male, about six-foot tall, and 185 pounds. In addition to the mask, he was also wearing a heavy knit cap and latex gloves.

Agents say he got away in a red, early 1990s model Ford Taurus-type vehicle being driven by a light-skinned black male. Another passenger was in the car. The FBI released information Tuesday that the suspect may be connected to a light blue/teal and white 1970s model Volkswagen camper bus with Colorado license plates. A tire and a flower or patter design was also on the suspect vehicle.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect, either vehicle or the robbery is asked to contact the Cheyenne FBI office at 307-632-6224, or the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office at 307-637-6524.
