March 17, 2016

TEN SLEEP — If you’re looking for a fun time, for an excellent cause, head over to Ten Sleep Saturday night and take in a basketball game between past Ten Sleep greats.

The second annual Blue and White Classic Alumni Basketball Game will be this Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Ten Sleep gym. The matchup includes former players of all ages with current players coaching each team for the greatest prize of all, bragging rights.

Last year the game was put on, with great success, as a fundraising effort for the Ten Sleep Fire Department. Public turnout was high; the alumni were out in a full force, and all of it resulting in a fantastic night, according to Ten Sleep boys basketball coach Ben Schwarz.

With last year’s game such a hit and a tremendous amount of fun for all, this year’s game will be put on for the girls and boys summer basketball programs. Admission will be free but donations are accepted.

There will also be Ten Sleep jerseys on sale along with a 50/50 raffle put on by the girls and boys teams. The boys will have jerseys, Blues and Whites, from three rotations ago available for sale, while the girls will be selling shooting shirts. All proceeds will go directly toward funding summer basketball programs and help cover tournament fees, camps, and any other cost for the each team.

Filling out the roster for the White Team are Brandi Boltz, Cheryl Haslem, Angela Munger, Phillip Beamer, Bryan O’donell, Mark Brewster, Shane Shoopman, Joe Doak, Jared Lyman, R.C. Carter, and Wade Wyman, coaching the team are Jay Lee and Sam Treece.

Blue Team members are Aishya Lyman, Janet Collen, Annie Carter, Michael Collen, Kyle O’donell, Mark Redland, Ethan Galloway, Tom Peterson, Dennis Lee, Brant Lyman and Daniel Greet, coached by Quentin Fettig and Amanda Lewton.

Refereeing and co-hosting the game will be boys basketball coach Ben Schwarz and girls basketball coach Dave Egger.

When asked what it’ll be like in zebra stripes coach Schwarz jokingly said “If (Joe Doak) even looks my way, I’m going to T him up.”
