Welcome Home Veterans Ceremony today

March 26, 2016

WORLAND – The Worland American Legion Post 44 will be having a Welcome Home Veterans Ceremony from 11 a.m. to noon today instead of March 30 which is the official Wyoming Veterans Welcome Home Day. “The official date is the 30th but for everyone’s convenience we will be having ours on the 26th,” American Legion Post 44 adjutant Don Hall said.

On March 17, 2011 Governor Matt Mead signed the first proclamation to set aside March 30 to thank Korean War, Vietnam War and other veterans in an appropriate manner and to honor those members of the United States armed forces who were not properly welcomed home following their military service.

Staff Sgt. Justin Pfeiffer will be the speaker for the ceremony and Hillary Wall, Naomi Durrant and Sariah Durrant will be singing.

Following the ceremony there will be a free lunch. “We welcome all veterans and their families to come and be honored and enjoy a really nice lunch,” Hall said.
