County receives six applications for Homeland Security director position

WORLAND – The Washakie County commissioners discussed the pending opening for the Homeland Security director with Kimball Crofts resignation effective Friday. Croft announced his resignation at the April 19 commissioner meeting.

Croft, who has worked in Washakie County for 11 years, will move on to Park County to be the public health response coordinator starting May 11.

It was reported at Tuesday’s commissioners meeting that to date, six applicants have applied for the position as the Washakie County Homeland Security director.

The position officially opened April 21 and applications will stop being accepted today at 5 p.m.

Croft is currently working on a hand-off report with up-to-date information for projects/ grants that need immediate attention to give to the next director.

The commissioners also discussed putting together a hiring committee to look at applications and rank them in order by May 9 to help with the interviews on May 16.

Temporary dispensing permit

Representation from Ten Sleep Brewing Company meet with the Washakie County Commissioners at their scheduled meeting Tuesday afternoon for a temporary additional dispensing room permit.

Paula Fauth and Carol Smith submitted a drawing to the commissioners with general overview of what room would look like, and discussed pricing for the temporary permit.

The commissioners informed Smith and Fauth it would $10, and a motion was made and approved for a 24-hour temporary additional dispensing room permit for a rodeo event Ten Sleep Brewery is hosting on May 28.

Other business included Tom Schmeltzer, building maintenance manager, with renovation updates for the conference building and search and rescue building at Washakie County Fairgrounds.

Schmeltzer said the conference building is substantially completed. All that is left to be completed is the vinyl and sheet rock corners.

He added they will have to go through the city of Worland for occupancy certification.

The search and rescue building is waiting on sewer and water for completion and they are waiting on the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

Later on in the evening at the Worland City Council meeting, City Engineer Mike Donnell announced the city received the DEQ sewer permit and would be able to start work soon.

Schmeltzer said Donnell & Allred, Inc.: Consulting Civil Engineers & Land Surveyors will be digging the sewer and the county will supply the materials needed.
