Filing for general election starts today

School district board members up for re-election

WORLAND – Filing starts today for seven board positions for Washakie County School District No. 1 and Washakie County School District No. 2.

Board members Susan Scheuerman, Julie Hann and David Tommerup all have expiring terms and the four-year board positions are open for election for District No. 1.

Scheuerman was elected on the board in November 1996. Hann was elected on the board in November 2008. Tommerup was elected on the board in November 2004.

There are three four-year terms open on the Washakie County School District No. 2 board, currently held by members Terril Mills, Dan Rice and Chuck Powell.

While Powell was appointed in May 2015, he was appointed to Jonna Abel, whose term ends this year. Tessia Greet’s seat on the board is a two-year term. She was appointed in February 2015 after the resignation of Becky Cooper. Cooper was in the middle of a four-year term, thus anyone seeking the seat must fill out the rest of the term through 2018.

If any board members seek to retain their seat or any interested person want serve they can file with the Washakie County Clerk’s Office from Aug. 10 to Aug. 29 at 5 p.m.

There is no filing fee.

– Also up for the filing period are three directors’ at large positions for the Worland Fire Protection District NO. 1; Two trustees outside city limits for the Ten Sleep Fire Protection District No. 2; One Rural trustee and one at large for the Washakie County Conservation District and two board members for the Ten Sleep Cemetery District.

All positions are four-year terms.
