Carolina “Dimmie” Brewster was born October 22, 1933, in Worland, Wyoming, to Ray R. Pendergraft and Margaret Buchanan Pendergraft. Except for a couple of years in New Jersey, she grew up in the Worland area, spending summers at the family’s cabin in the Big Horn Mountains. After graduating high school she attended the University of Wyoming for a year, and then married William R. Monday in 1952. They moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, where he was employed by Frontier Airlines, but shortly were transferred to the airline’s headquarters in Denver, where over the next two decades they reared their family of seven children.

While her children were at home, Brewster was active in the Methodist church, the local Parent-Teacher Association, and the United Way. She started a Girl Scout troop and served as its leader for many years, long after the original members had graduated high school. In 1965 she was elected to the Board of Directors of the Mile Hi Council of the Girl Scouts, serving as Chair of the Aurora District. In that role she oversaw more than 300 adult volunteers who provided activities for about 1,500 girls.

In the late 1970s she was divorced and returned to live in Worland, where she was employed by Dale Weaver Construction until her retirement. There she met and married Norman F. Brewster.

In keeping with a life-long interest in and talent for gardening, she completed training as a Master Gardener through the University of Wyoming Extension Program. She belonged to the Worland Garden Club and owned and operated The Greenery, a commercial greenhouse, until 2013.

Over the last two decades she also served as president and guiding force of the family mining company, Pascalite, Inc.

A lover of the outdoors, Brewster was happiest walking around the mountains, puttering in the yard, or tending to her chickens. She was always nurturing someone or something, be it children, plants, spouse, parents, or small animals. She will be remembered as a quiet and pensive soul, and greatly missed by her extended family.

Brewster was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one daughter, Jinine Monday. She is survived by her sister, Barbara A. Ruff, and four nieces. She also leaves behind her Worland family of daughter Jeanne Lockard (Dan) and grandchildren Neil, Tyler (Molly), Erin, and Kelli Lockard. Other survivors are daughters Jacquelyn Monday (Bob Cox), JoAnne Monday (Dan Daneff), and Jan Monday (Steve Winans); sons William “Bud” Monday (Carolyn), Thomas Monday (Kris), and three more grandchildren: Galen Cox, Jennifer Monday, and Josh Monday.

According to Carolina’s wishes, no services will be held. A family gathering will take place at a later date. Veile Mortuary has been entrusted with care.
