James Franklin Carey, 80-year-old Basin resident passed away on March 31, 2017 at the Spirit Mountain Hospice in Cody, WY.

Jim was born on January 31, 1937 in Chester, PA a son of James Thomas and Elizabeth Cecelia (Cape) Carey, He received his formal education in Chester, then went to work as a journeyman Lineman working alongside his father.

Jim served his country in the United States Army for seven years serving during the Korean Conflict. He married Sue Barwick on April 26, 1957 in Phenix City, Alabama. To this union were born three daughters, Donna, Terry and Linda.

Jim continued working as a lineman until the age of 29, when he became disabled due to being electrocuted. The family relocated to Wyoming in 2002.

He had a passion for motorcycles and loved to spend time in the mountains, hunting, fishing and cutting down trees. He loved life and setting up a good joke to make people laugh. The joys in his life were his children and grandchildren and many family pets.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Elizabeth Rae Carey,

Jim is survived by his wife, Pastor Sue Carey of Basin, three daughters, Donna (Michael) Leggett of Phenix City, Alabama, Terry (Steve) Roundtree of Worland and Linda (Mark) Sawyer of Basin. Survivors also include a brother, George Carey of Pine hill, NJ and a sister, Mary Jane Wall of Tennessee, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Ten Sleep Mountain View Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow at the Ten Sleep Cemetery.
