WORLAND - Two of Worland's own, Amayah Leyva and Brooke Wright, showcased their talents during the Team Championship portion of the Hit, Pitch and Run competition Saturday morning at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado.

Wright finished first in her age division of 12/11-year-olds, her fourth time competing at the Championship level, and Leyva was second in the 10/9 -year-olds in her second time competing at the Team Championship level.

Getting to the championship both competitors had to win the all-around in their respective age divisions in the local competition to advance to the sectional competition. To move on from sectionals to the Team Championship Leyva and Wright placed in the top three in the region.

By winning her age division, Wright has the opportunity to advance to the National Finals which will be held in Miami, Florida, during the MLB All-Star Week on July 7-11. Wright's results will also need to place in the top three of the 30 other Team Championship competitions in her age division to move on to the Finals.

After competing on Coors Field, Leyva and Wright took in the Colorado Rockies 5-1 win over the San Francisco Giants.
