Beatrice Torrez

October 31, 2017

Beatrice Torrez went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 26, 2017. She left this world with beauty, dignity and grace after a brief battle with cancer. She was 78 years old.

Bea was born on June 22, 1939 to Blaz and Gregoria (Benabires) Terronez in Galeton, Colorado. She was the youngest of 10 children. She grew up in Greeley, Colorado and graduated Central High School in 1957. She was involved in Thespian's Club, Choir, and Pep Club during her high school years.

When she was 5 years old her family became friends with the Frank Torrez family at church. A budding friendship began with their only son, Sam. Later their friendship bloomed into a romance and the two were married on October 12, 1958 in the Greeley Assembly of God Church. This fulfilled her thoughts as a 9-year-old, that Sam would one day become her husband. They enjoyed many activities together including frequent trips to Estes park, horseback riding, boating, and many other outdoor activities.

Bea was frequently heard singing Sunday mornings on KFKA, 1 of 2 radio stations in Greeley, CO. She was later a part of a singing group, "Voces Angelicales" (Angelic Voices). In 1969, a highlight of the group was the opportunity to open for the Grammy winning, and Gospel Music Hall of Fame group, "The Imperials," for their performance in Denver. Also In 1969, she graduated from Latin American Bible Institute (LABI) in El Paso, TX. She then joined her husband Sam for a life dedicated to pastoral ministry, where she often filled the music ministry needs; even teaching herself to play the piano to fill yet another roll of serving the church. Together they eventually settled in Worland. Along with a life of ministry she worked continually for different advocacy groups with her last employer being Victims of Violence. Bea enjoyed producing years of musical productions for the church including her favorite, the yearly Christmas program. Another of her favorite hobbies was translating music from Spanish to English or English to Spanish. Among Bea's most favorite things in life was being with her siblings. Oh, how she admired her brothers, and praised her sisters. Any moment the "Terrones girls" were together, was filled with singing, reminiscing, and endless laughter - they were her joy!

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Alfredo and Edwardo, sisters Alicia and Sarah and grandson, Llogan Nash Pedraza.

Survivors include her loving husband, Samuel Sr .; children: Samuel Frank (Lisa) Torrez, Guylah (Elias) Martinez and Alda Pedraza all of Worland; siblings, Nash (Holly) of San Diego, CA, Art (Myrna) of Loveland, CO, Joe (Pam) of Scottsdale, AZ; Amparo Gomez and Lydia Griffiths both of Greeley, CO; grandchildren: Cain (Summer) Torrez, Levi Torrez, Misty (Trevor) Buchanan, Liarae (Rush) Nicholson, Branden (Lori) Martinez, Michael and Gabriel Gagner, Ashanti and Layce Pedraza; great grandchildren: Aunika, Jaeda, Cain, Ayrez, Zion, Parker, Connor, Mackenzie, Grant, Brooklyn, Londyn, Brinley, Evelyn, and Eleanor.
