WORLAND - After making the 3A State football playoffs for the first time since 2009, the Worland Warriors had three players recognized for their contributions on the season.

Voted on by the other 3A West coaches, WHS seniors JR Hofmann, Matthew Sanchez and Morgan Tigner were named to the 2017 3A West All-Conference team. Sanchez (led 3A in defensive points at 19.9 per game) was selected to the team as a linebacker, Tigner (anchored an offensive line that cleared the way for 1,452 rushing yards on the season) an offensive lineman and Hofmann (seventh in 3A defensive points with 14.9) earning an at-large selection.

Sanchez also earned his second consecutive All-State selection and was the only player from WHS to make the All-State team.

"It's a cool thing when they get the recognition from the other coaches around the league. We knew that they were good and it's nice to see them be rewarded for their accomplishments throughout the season.

"They all brought great leadership to the team, their hustle and effort on the field was there every game and helped cultivate and mentor younger players, they did it all for us. It was great to see those guys get those accolades," said WHS football coach Ryan Utterback.

The Cody Broncs led the 3A West with the most All-Conference selections at 12 and tied with Star Valley for the most All-State selections, eight.

Green River's Chance Hofer was named the 3A West Offensive Player of the Year, Star Valley's Josh Dawson was the defensive POY and Noah Hutchinson special teams POY, Cody's Matt Skinner was the 3A Lineman of the Year and Matt McFadden Coach of the Year.
