WORLAND — The bulk of the Washakie County Fair Board Monday night was spent in discussing the role of the new bookkeeper and then voting on the new hire.

The board received five applications from their advertisement for a part-time bookkeeper. Duties listed in the ad and reaffirmed Monday night were to maintain the board’s financial records, including payments, financial statements and budget preparation, work closely with the Fair Board to establish and analyze financial reports, ensure compliance with legal requirements, review accounts payable, manage invoices and vouchers and prepare for and review audit requirements.

The board unanimously hired Sandra Richard with S&A Bookkeeping as the part-time bookkeeper with Marty Cross abstaining from discussion and voting.

The board also welcomed new fair board Beth Shaffer, recently appointed by the county commissioners to a five-year term.

New officers were elected with David Doyle elected president, Jeff Lapp vice president, Shaffer secretary and Cross treasurer.

FAIR ENTERTAINMENT

While the board has discussed bringing a carnival to the fair, Jim Butterfield said they would like public input on the types of entertainment that people want to see at the fair in 2018. They are asking for the public to come with ideas at the February 12 meeting at 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds.

Butterfield said they want to know if there are previous musical acts people would like to see again. Do they want to continue with the same evening entertainment, which last year included — tractor pull, pig wrestling and rodeo.

Last year’s musical entertainment included Chancey Williams & The Younger Brothers Band, Westbound 40¢, Shark Twain and Rattlesnake Ridge.
