Worland Speech and Debate team has two national qualifiers

WORLAND – The National Forensic League National Qualifiers took place two weeks ago in Lander with Worland High School qualifying two members for the national competition in June.

WORLAND – The National Forensic League National Qualifiers took place two weeks ago in Lander with Worland High School qualifying two members for the national competition in June.

Alongside the qualifiers, they also had two alternates, and one who advanced to round five in their event.

Zoe Fernandez and Kimberly Sumida both qualified to compete in policy debate at nationals.

Nathaniel Nelson was fourth alternate in humor and Raeth Tolman and Guendylan Byrd was second alternate in duet.

Emily Brown had the pleasure of advancing to round five in Lincoln-Douglas debate.

Nationals takes place in June in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

At the annual awards banquet Thursday night, in addition to letter pins, NFL awards, and fun awards, also honored were Class 3A state placers, Sullie-Ann Keuntjes, second in poetry; Arora Chamberlain, third in extemporaneous speaking; Rachael Carver and Paris Caines, second in cross examination; and Zoe Fernandez and Madeline Martinson, third in cross examination
