The Wyoming Game & Fish Department will be hosting a meeting welcoming hunters, landowners and wildlife enthusiasts to come and share their thoughts on the issue of managing mule deer with local Game & Fish representatives. The 2024 Wyoming Sugar sugar beet harvest came in breaking records in Washakie County despite weather challenges. Head Agriculturist Jacob Bullinger reported a yield of about 36 tons per acre, which is what he believes is a record. The county yield exceeds the company's overall yield of 33 tons per acre. Although the Hot Springs County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees typically approves administrative contracts for renewal in the month of February, they addressed it early this school year at the Nov. 14 meeting and renewed contracts for three administrators. Harold “Hugh” Miller, 68, passed away at the Washakie Medical Center on Nov. 25, 2024. He was born in Worland, Wyoming on Nov. 21, 1956. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A full obituary is pending.... Full story
Gloria Brazelton, 72 of Powell Wyoming. Passed away peacefully in her home on November 8th 2024. Gloria was born June 7th, 1952 to Gene and Jerry West in Hobbs New Mexico. Gloria's family moved to Worland Wyoming in 1958 she was the oldest of 3 children graduate of Worland Senior High. She was active in band, secretary of art club and member of the 4H. This Friday marks the seventh year of the Trim A Tree celebration at Pioneer Square, which brings together families, businesses and the community in a festive atmosphere. In an exciting development for local students, Worland Middle School has officially established its own FFA chapter, spearheaded by agriculture education teacher and FFA advisor Audrey Crockett. Crockett initiated this chapter with the aim to help engage middle school students with the fundamentals of agriculture and prepare them for future success in high school FFA programs. Seven Chief Washakie FFA members teamed up with the Paintrock Hunter Mentor Program on a Young Hunters Care Project that benefited the farming and food insecurity communities. Wyoming Game Warden Matt Lentsch said the Wyoming Game Warden's Association purchased 15 doe antelope licenses for an hunt on private property.
