A truck carrying 48,880 pounds of gilsonite overturned while attempting to turn onto West River Road from U.S. 20. Lt. Karl Germain with the Wyoming Highway Patrol said speed is being investigated as a contributing factor to the crash. The driver was transported to Washakie Medical Center as a precautionary measure and checked out OK. West River Road was shut down for about a half hour while crews uprighted the vehicle. Gilsonite is used in oil field drilling fluids and newspaper inks; however, the gilsonite was not being transported to the Northern Wyoming Daily News.
