Catherine Rose Upton, 59, passed away at her home on February 5 after a 7 1/2-year courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Sheridan, Wyoming on March 10, 1956. Her family moved to Worland when she was a year old and where she attended Worland schools, graduating in 1974. Seven days after graduation she married the love of her life, Tim Upton, on May 25, 1974. They resided in Worland for 12 years. During this times she worked at Washakie Memorial Hospital, Worland Boys School and Sky Aviation. To this union they had 2 sons, Timothy H. and Robert J. They moved to the old Moon Homestead on the Upper Gooseberry Creek, where an opportunity arose to start a new life and what a life it was. It later became known as the Flying U Ranch and it was here she found her love of animals. Every animal had a name and they would follow her when called, be it horses, cows or dogs. She raised over 200 registered quarter horse foals. Many of these horses are ridden in the area today and many out of state. She had to quit raising horses due to her illness. Anyone who knew Cathy realized that you "Don't mess with her animals!" because they were very much a part of her life.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Tim, of 41 years, son Timothy H. (Patricia) of Parker, Colorado, sister and best friend Laurie (Jim) Yule and mother Julia Boyko, all of Worland; step-daughters, Tammy Matthews of Denver, Tina (Will) Osborne of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; grandchildren, Tyler, Mitchell, Tim, Jaxstan, Clare, Lizzy, A.J., Adrianna and numerous nieces and nephews. She also left behind Lilly, her dog that never left her side.

Cathy was preceded in death by her son, Bob in 2003 and her father.

Memorial Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church in Worland. Her final disposition will be done at the spring calf branding in April, a time Cathy dearly loved. Memorial donations may be made to a Scholarship Fund in Cathy's name for the Meeteetse FFA.
