Wyoming lawmakers discuss database of health costs

CHEYENNE (AP) — Wyoming lawmakers are considering asking the state to create a database of health procedure costs. The move would allow insurers and employers to compare prices throughout Wyoming, which has some of the most expensive health care in the country.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports that the House touched on the issue Monday as part of an overall discussion on the budget bill. A footnote in that bill suggests the creation of the statewide database, although it makes participation optional for health care facilities.
