Worland keeper Braedon Page boots it down the field in the match against Cody Friday night. The Warriors prevailed 3-2 in extra time and travel to Buffalo today for a 2 p.m. matchup.

WORLAND- The Worland Warriors once again grinded out a home victory this time against Cody 3-2 in extra time.

The boys would take an early 1-0 lead on a Jacob Lamm goal in the 21st minute. However the Broncos' Blake Hinze would get the match's next two goals at the 26th and 42nd minutes.

That didn't deter the Warriors a bit as all match long they were getting great looks at the goal but couldn't capitalize. In the 65th minute though senior Jakob Schaeffer connected with his first goal of the season and tied the match at 2-2.

The remainder of the second half would go back and forth as each team would have opportunities to take the lead. None was closer than Schaeffer who in the extra time portion of the second half, took a shot that bounced off the goal post.

But in the 91st minute of extra time Schaeffer wouldn't miss as he was set up nicely by Lamm, putting the Warriors up 3-2. This wouldn't be the match's final moments of drama because in the 97th minute a foul was committed by the Warriors giving Cody's Victor Bautista a penalty kick for a chance to tie the match. After what felt like an eternity Bautista took his shot but it sailed over the goal.

The Warriors would play strong defense for the remainder of the match and have started the season 2-0.

Coach Ron Overcast was proud of his team, "Once again the mental toughness these guys show is impressive. We kept grinding away, got the goal that won it, and we're 1-0 in the quadrant."

For today's match at Buffalo coach Overcast would like the team to, "Come out with more urgency and show better recognition to what the other team is trying to do."

The match starts at 2 p.m. in Buffalo.
