AMOS AUGUSTUS HOWE

July 2, 2016

August 21, 1935 – June 30, 2016

GREYBULL, WY........Amos Augustus Howe, 80, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 30, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Amos was born August 21, 1935 to Clarence and Irene (Busch) Howe in Greybull Wyoming, the youngest of 3 children and was raised on the family ranch on Beaver Creek. He graduated from Greybull High School in 1954.

After graduating from high school he traveled the region doing construction work. He worked on a dam in Yankton, South Dakota, and later, did bridgework throughout Wyoming with CM Smith Construction alongside his brother, Walt.

In 1957, he met his future bride, Deanna Davis. They were married on May 23, 1958 in Wheatland, Wyoming. From this union two children were born; Rowena Marie and Roderick Alvin.

While he enjoyed his time doing construction work, his true passion was in ranching. Amos returned home to work the family ranch in 1959. In 1965 he was able to purchase the ranch and although life on the ranch was not easy, he treasured every bit of it and successfully ran it until his retirement from ranching in 1992. While living on the ranch, Amos also worked at MI Drilling as a heavy equipment operator. He continued his work for MI Drilling until 2004. Even though his jobs on the ranch and in the bentonite hills consumed the majority of his time, his generous spirit and compassionate heart never allowed him to abandon a neighbor in need.

After retiring from ranching, Amos and Deanna moved to town. They spent much of their time traveling and sight-seeing with the Good Sam’s Club. Woodworking also became a favorite pastime of his while living in town. With each new project came an even more elaborate outcome. Undoubtedly, the most elaborate and most precious of all his projects were the beautiful cribs he built with so much love for each of his great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life the past ten years.

Amos was truly “one of a kind”. He was an exemplary model of a hard-working family man who dedicated his life to making the world a better place through his everlasting love, patience and kindness.

He is survived by his children: Rowena and Rod (Ronda); grandchildren: Shane (Sara); Sheena (Derek); Shyanne (Adam); great-grandchildren: TayLee, Bailey, Tayten, Sydney, Brodyn, and Brinley; brothers: Walt (Kathleen) and Roy (Norma); his four-legged friend, Prancer; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in memory and honor of Amos.

A funeral service for Amos will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Elks BPOE Lodge #1431 in Greybull with burial to follow at the Donald J. Ruhl Memorial Cemetery in Greybull.
