U.S. House of Representative candidate Paul Paad stands by his booth at the "Meet the Candidate" Forum hosted by the Worland Business and Professional Women's Organization.

WORLAND – U.S. House of Representative candidate Paul Paad wants to get the people's voice into the people's House.

Paad, the only U.S. House candidate that attended the Worland Business & Professional Women's organization meet the candidate event Tuesday night, said, "I have gotten into this race because I look at the Congress ... and see very little getting accomplished ... I'd like to get ... the people's voice into the people's house."

Paad, who is one of nine candidates seeking the Republican nomination to Wyoming's lone U.S. House seat, shared ideas important to him such as energy industry, stopping the moratorium on federal coal leases, taking care of veterans and immigration.

"Our economy is the weak point on our country right now. I think we really need to declare our energy independence from foreign markets. We've established it and we need to declare it now ... and build a refinery in this country," Paad said.

"We need to refortify and re-strengthen our military and make it the most effective, efficient and respected military in the world. One that has respect and fear for our enemies and the respect and the trust of our allies," Paad said.

"I believe we need to look at our veteran and start taking care of veterans. Veterans should never have to worry about the health care they promised when they signed on that line. No veteran should have to be homeless when we house people that enter our border illegally," Paad.

Paad said the voters have two choices when it comes to voting. They can stick to the status quo or elect someone who will stand up for their rights.

"We're getting close to the end of the campaign here ... and I have absolutely loved getting out and meeting people," Paad said.

U.S. House of Representatives candidates Liz Cheney sent Dena Bower and Tim Stubson sent his campaign manager Deke Dunn as their representatives at Tuesday night's forum at the Worland Community Center Complex.

Darin Smith, Leland Christensen and Ryan Greene who initially had committed, did not attend.

Candidates from State Senate District No. 20, State House of Representatives District 27, Washakie County commissioners, Worland city council and Worland mayoral candidates were also in attendance and given the opportunity to speak about their candidacy.
