Hout Fencing awarded crushed gravel bid

September 7, 2016

WORLAND – The Washakie County Commissioners opened five sealed bid packets for crushed gravel at Dry Farm Pit.

Out of the five bids, the commissioners, at their meeting Tuesday, accepted a bid from Hout Fencing of Wyoming in the amount of $67,900 contingent of receiving bond approval from the county attorney.

Hout Fencing submitted a quote to the commissioner for 10,000 cubic yards (including mobilization, supplies, labor) for $6.79 a cubic yard for a total amount of $67,900.

The work consists of 5,000 cubic yards of one-inch crushed gravel at the Dry Farm Pit. They also requested an alternate “A” for crushing an additional 5,000 cubic yards at eight miles east of the Dry Farm Pit on Hazelton Road, according to a county legal.

Other business included a general update by Road and Bridge Superintendent Randy Chenoweth. Chenoweth informed the commissioners sign theft and vandalism has occurred within the county.

In Worland two signs on Washakie 10 were taken: the 45 mile per hour sign and “no passing” sign, and Chenoweth said in Ten Sleep the sign on Lower Nowood was up for two days and there are already nine bullet holes in it.

He said he ordered two signs for Washakie 10 to replace two stolen ones.

– Washakie County Sherriff Steve Rakness and, the administrative assistant to the Washakie County Sheriff’s Office and Worland Police Department, Wanda Richard discussed the current e-911 system and purchasing a new more up-to-date system.

The commissioners, Rakness and Richard looked over plans; and the commissioners requested more information from Rakness and Richard about plan costs.

Rakness discussed using some of the dispatch reserve funds shared with the Worland Fire District and Worland Police Department to help purchase the new 911 system and Commissioner Aaron Anderson said the all parties would have to agree on it before any decision could be made.

– Commissioner Fred Frandson was absent.
