Neal Bower, Ethan Ré and Jack Robertson share and compare their personalized copy of "I Like Me!" Each book was personalized with a child's name and the name of two of their friends. Here, Bower looks as Robertson shows him where his name appears in the book.

WORLAND – The first-grade students at East Side Elementary school were in a frenzy Wednesday afternoon reading and sharing pages of their own personalized version of the "I Like Me!" book.

They made up a fraction of the first graders in Washakie County School District No. 1 that will receive their own personalized copy of the book from the Worland Kiwanis Club. West Side Elementary students received their copy last Thursday and South Side Elementary will receive their copies today, with a total of 89 distributed this year. Last year Kiwanis distributed 94 books to Worland first graders.

The book, part of the Kindergartners Count, Inc. program partnered with Worland Kiwanis Club, contains over 60 personalization's including the child's name, the name of two friends and the name of their teacher. With the child as the protagonist, the program creates a memorable keepsake for students.

"The I Like Me! program is a research-based, personalized program for children preschool through grade two and was developed to instill a love of a reading foster positive self-concept, create positive associations toward school and learning, help build character, encourage positive and acceptable behavior mannerism and promote interactions among children, parents, educators, businesses and other positive facets of the community," according to the program website.
