Fire restrictions approved by county

Open fires, fireworks banned Aug. 18-22

WORLAND — The Washakie County Commissioners approved fire restrictions for the county for the weekend of the solar eclipse and through the solar eclipse.

Washakie County Fire Warden Chris Kocher said during Tuesday’s meeting that the reason for the restrictions is to try and not stress fire resources.

He said Friday night at about 5:30 p.m. two lightning strikes in the Banjo Road area burned more than 3,000 acres in about five hours.
