WHS golfers kick-start 2017 season in Powell

August 16, 2017

POWELL - While the new school year has not officially begun the Worland High School Warriors and Lady Warriors golf teams began their season with the Powell Invitational on August 10-11.

Senior Lady Warrior Katelin Scheuerman, coming off a second-place finish at state in 2016, finished a team best ninth overall shooting a 94 and 95. Scheuerman's teammates Robyn Horath shot a 109-120 in her first tournament, Rachael Carver 122-115, Elise Washington 131-119 and Saibrynn Crippen 133-NS.

For the Warriors, the team stayed below the 400 stroke mark both days shooting a 365-384. Jose Galarza led the way with a personal best 83-91, JT Klinghagen shot a 94-94 in his first tournament, Logan Foote 93-100, Konnor Macy 96-99 and Karter Dunham 95-108.

"Though the kids were disappointed with their play, I'm really encouraged. We haven't been below 400 on the boys side for a two-day tournament since I've been associated with the program," said WHS golf coach Chad Rose.

"Jose proved that the time he spent working on his game was time well spent. His 83 was also the lowest score we've seen in my time here. Katelin continued her streak at top 10s. I feel confident she will be peaking at the right time again this season. Robyn and JT both did well for their first tourney."

Next for Worland will be the Worland Invitational meet at the Green Hills Golf Course on Friday and Saturday.
