Thermopolis Oktobrewfest: beer, history and music

THERMOPOLIS – Downtown Thermopolis will play host to Oktobrewfest today, from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m., with activities for the whole family, including historic building tours and live music.

A farmers market will feature fresh local produce and craft items, from 8 until 11 a.m. on Fifth Street.

Thermopolis 100th Birthday building tours will begin at 1 p.m., featuring 15 original downtown buildings, including the Klink Building, and the Masonic Lodge. Cake to celebrate the birthday will follow.

A cornhole tournament will take place at 3 p.m. at the old fire hall, and all-day activities include a children’s bouncy house and outdoor food and beer vendors.

Live music starts at 11 a.m. with an open mike, and continues with Ryan Martin (noon), Eric Kay (1 p.m.), Steve Frame (2 p.m.), Virgil Bailey (3 p.m.), Kerry Wallace (4 p.m.), Silvertip String Band (5 p.m.) and Shark Twain (6 p.m.).

Live music will continue at 8 p.m. inside the One Eyed Buffalo Brewery, on Broadway.

Main Street Thermopolis co-chair Suzanne Samelson noted that in the case of rain, the live music will be relocated inside the old fire hall.
