David M. Duffy

David M. Duffy, 68, passed away on March 16, 2018 at the Billings Clinic in Billings, Montana.

David was born on January 17, 1950 to Roland E. "Ted" and Julie A. (McConnell) Duffy in Laramie, WY. Before graduating from Laramie HS in 1968 he attended schools in Douglas, Torrington, and Laramie. After attending the University of Wyoming, he began working for Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph. In 1976 he married Sheila McCoy in Laramie. They made their first home in Lander where David worked for Mountain Bell and their son, Sean, was born.


In his tenure with Mountain Bell and U.S. West, he worked in Laramie, Riverton and Casper. In Riverton, he served as a union steward and Area Vice-president for the SWA. In Casper, he served in several different managerial capacities.


In 1994 Dave left Casper to work for RT Communications in Worland, after retiring in 2007 he and Sheila started "k-9 Cupboard", a small business selling pet foods.

He was active in St. Alban's Episcopal Church serving on the vestry and as a lay minister. He was a supporter and member of the Washakie Museum. He served three terms on the Worland Board of Adjustment/Planning Commission. In addition to being elected to the Worland City Council in 2010, he served as Mayor from 2013 to 2017. David enjoyed woodworking and spending time in the mountains camping and fishing with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and Aunt Marilyn McConnell.

Survivors include his wife Sheila, son Sean (Alice) and their daughters, Raychel and Jillian all of Worland; brother Kelly of Denver, uncle, Jerry McConnell; aunt, Helen Chase, Sheila's mother, Georgia Lee; Sheila's sister and brother, Stephanie (Ric) Chappell, Doug McCoy; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 23, 2018 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Cathedral Home for Children, PO Box 520, Laramie, WY 82073. Online condolences may be made at http://www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
