Funeral services for Rose Mary Pearce Rude, a 69 year-old resident of Basin, Wyoming, who passed away in Billings, Montana, on June 15, will be held Thursday, June 21, at 10:30 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Basin/Greybull, with Bishop Aaron Stone officiating.
Viewing will be held at the LDS church on June 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Basin with a grave consecration ceremony. A reception and luncheon will follow at the LDS church in Basin/Greybull.
Rose was born September 16, 1948, to John Leonard Pearce and Darlene (Lammers) Pearce in their home in Worland, Wyoming.
Rose was the second of three children and grew up in Worland where she attended school. She graduated from Worland High School in 1966 and then worked as a clerk at First National Bank. She attended the University of Wyoming, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in fine arts. Rose also earned her certification in fashion design from the Fashion Institute in California in 1981. She also worked for the Social Security Administration and was also a preschool teacher in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Rose and Richard were married on February 14, 1985, Valentine's Day, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Worland, Wyoming. They lived in Rock Springs, Manderson and Basin, Wyoming. They were later married for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Rose loved to make and collect Christmas ornaments and decorations. She also made and sold pottery earlier in her life. She loved teaching children and loved her Primary children at church.
Rose and Richard spent many years educating young boys in Cub Scouts. She received an Outstanding Service Recognition from the scouting organization for her many years of service.
Rose was very active in her church and she loved attending Relief Society and loved teaching the children in Primary, she always was willing to serve others. Rose and Richard served several church missions together, the first was at Sixth Crossings Visitors Center on the Mormon Trail in Wyoming for a year and a half and then they served a mission in St. Louis, Missouri.
Her last few years were marked by the onset of health conditions that she fought with courage and wisdom, retaining her loving nature right up to the end. Rose suffered from Type 1 diabetes from the early age of 16. She took excellent care of herself defeating most effects of the disease until a series of heart attacks took her.
Rose is survived by her loving husband Richard, of Basin, Wyoming; her mother Darlene Pearce of Manderson, Wyoming, her brother Don (Susan) Pearce, of Buffalo, Wyoming and seven nephews; Raymond (Heidi) Pearce and their children, Rebecca, Lydia and Michael of Buffalo, Wyoming; Paul Pearce, of Buffalo, Wyoming; Brian Pearce and Thomas Pearce of Jackson, Wyoming; John and Brady of Billings, Montana and Andy Walton of Arizona.
Rose was preceded in death by her father and by her sister Chiquita Wilson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Atwood Family Funeral Directors.
