Recycle your Christmas tree

January 1, 2019

WORLAND – With the holidays almost over and many people are putting their decorations away and looking forward to spring and warm weather. But what do you do with the half dead tree that was leaving needles all through the house? You put it outside for the Washakie County Conservation District to pick up and turn into mulch.

The Washakie County Conservation District is picking up Christmas trees this weekend for free, whether you live in city limits or outside city limits this weekend. On Jan. 5 in Worland, within city limits, Christmas trees need to be placed outside in the alley, by the dumpster and free of decorations by 8 a.m. If you live outside city limits you can take your tree to Newell Sargent Park, no later than Jan. 9, where a pile will form just north of the city maintenance building.

On Jan. 7, in Ten Sleep, before the end of the day, anyone who wants their Christmas tree picked up needs to call 250-7836 and a Ten Sleep FFA member will be happy to come and retrieve your tree. If you live outside of town you need to bring your tree to the Anderson stack yard about one quarter mile east of town on the north side of the highway. As with Worland, all trees need to be completely clean of all decorations.
