Committee defeats bill for fourth study on WRC and Pioneer Home

WORLAND — A bill to seek yet another study on the Wyoming Pioneer Home in Thermopolis and the Wyoming Retirement Center in Basin failed in the Appropriations Committee Friday.

Sen. Wyatt Agar (R-Thermopolis) reported Friday afternoon that the bill failed on a 1-11 vote with only one legislator supporting another study. “This would have been the fourth commissioned study,” Agar said.

He noted that when the centers are being “studied” census drops because families are apprehensive of placing loved ones in the center if they may have to move them again.
