UW looks to fill Cent$ible Nutrition vacancy

February 28, 2019

WORLAND — After leaving the Washakie/Hot Springs County Cent$ible Nutrition educator position vacant for nearly a year the University of Wyoming Cent$ible Nutrition office is working to fill the position.

Longtime Cent$ible Nutrition Educator Cynthia Aguilar left the position last April, according to Kali Goodenough, UW Cent$ible Nutrition marketing coordinator.

Goodenough said when the position came open UW Cent$ible Nutrition officials wanted to see how it would work to cover the area with other educators in the Big Horn Basin. She said that proved to be too much of an area for the other educators to cover so they have opened up the position.

UW Cent$ible Nutrition is currently advertising the position through Friday. Goodenough said depending on the pool of candidates they may have to reopen the position, which they had to do recently in another county. Once the application process is closed, a committee will screen the candidates and determine a pool to interview.

In-person interviews will be conducted, likely in Worland, Goodenough said.

The hiring process if finalized by the University of Wyoming, she said.

“We are hoping to have the position filled by April,” Goodenough said.

According to the job description posted on the UW Cent$ible Nutrition website, the Cent$ible Nutrition program assistance will “provide nutrition education to low income families, adults and youth in accordance with federal guidelines in Washakie and Hot Springs County. Provide education in nutrition, meal planning, food resource management, food safety, physical activity, and food preparation skills to low-income families, youth and individuals. Develop and adapt training to meet the needs of various program participants. Outreach to community agencies, schools, coalitions, and organizations to coordinate, develop, maintain, and expand policy, system, and environmental (PSE) changes that help the citizens of the low-income community adopt healthier nutrition and physical activity behaviors.”
