March 21, 2019
According to the Worland Fire Department, the department, as well as surrounding area firefighters were called to 1247 HWY 20 South for a report of a fire ignited by fireworks at 2:26 p.m. on Friday, March 22.
Crews worked well into the evening to contain the fire as it was in heavy brush with multiple structures threatened. No injuries reported and no structures were damaged. Trees will continue to smolder throughout the night and coming days but the risk of spread has been mitigated.
The Wyoming Department of Transportation closed a one-mile stretch of U.S. 20 south of Worland for a brief time due to smoke, as well as northbound traffic on WYO HWY 432 at milepost 10.81.
