Officials meet to discuss worst-case snowstorm scenario

WORLAND – Officials from various organizations in Worland and Ten Sleep met on Wednesday, Sept. 4, to discuss what would happen in the case of a major snowstorm and cold spell in the Washakie County area.

This meeting was the annual Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (THIRA) which is hosted in order to discuss different scenarios.

The meeting started out with the laying out of a scenario which depicted nearly two feet of snow accumulated, negative 25-35 degree temperatures for three days, and ice damaging roads, along with power and other services being lost.
