WORLAND – Becoming a teacher appeared to be the perfect fit for Ashley Weaver, with teaching being a large part of her family as a whole, she became a new fourth grade teacher at West Side Elementary this 2019-20 school year.

"I have always had wonderful teachers and enjoyed being in school more than most children," Weaver said. "My mom suggested that teaching would be a perfect fit for me and what I wanted out of life."

After graduating with honors from Murray State University in Kentucky, Weaver originally started teaching in Jackson, Tennessee, but felt like there could be a better fit elsewhere to raise her twin boys with her husband Dane.

In the summer of 2015, Weaver would come out and tour a multitude of towns in Wyoming. She and her husband fell in love with the town of Ten Sleep, and as fate would have it her husband was offered a high school social studies position the following May, and the rest as they say "is history."

The three years since she moved to the Big Horn Basin she has always been involved in the community and helping kids prior to accepting the job at West Side.

Since she accepted the fourth-grade teaching job at West Side, she has thoroughly enjoyed reading to her students, and using that time to help build a relationship with each and every student.

"My hope is to ignite each child's love of reading because reading is the key to everything," Weaver said. "The most important thing a teacher can do to help their students succeed is to build a relationship."

Building relationships and helping show students that you care, can make a world of difference, and according to Weaver, "without strong relationships, learning cannot happen."

Although she teaches students and builds relationships with them throughout the week, she still finds time to take advantage of the beautiful area around her.

"My family and I can be found taking walks, camping and fishing," Weaver said. "I truly believe that I am living the dream and every day I truly feel blessed to be here."
