UW Closes Campus Due to Unsafe Travel Conditions

November 21, 2019

November 26, 2019 -- Due to unsafe travel conditions, the University of Wyoming campus is closed today. That includes all transit services.

However, essential personnel have been instructed to remain at work and report at normal times.

Classes already had been canceled Monday and Tuesday to allow students to depart early to help ensure safety in their travels.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation has closed its Laramie office today due to winter conditions.

The office will be closed to non-essential personnel on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Wyoming Highway Patrol and other essential personnel will report as usual.

WYDOT’s Cheyenne offices are also closed today due to the weather.

Currently, Interstate 80 and other roads in Wyoming are closed due to winter weather, crashes and rolling closures. Rolling closures occur when a town is at capacity, which can happen during a long-duration closure. As a result, the closure is rolled back to the next town to avoid stranding travelers in a location without adequate services.
