Lost Creek Search and Rescue

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – On June 13, 2020, Wyoming State Forestry Division’s (WSFD) Helitack

was dispatched to the Lost Creek fire, according to a Forestry Division press released issued Friday, June 19.

Upon arrival at the fire, WSFD Helitack was asked to assist

with a search and rescue mission near the Lost Creek fire on the Shoshone National Forest. Upon

arrival to Cody, the Helitack crew members were notified per Cody Dispatch of an emergency

mission requesting extraction of a group of seven civilians who were isolated on a ridgeline

threatened by the wildfire.

After the civilians were located, the WSFD Helitack crew was able to extract and transport the

civilians to the Wapiti-Ranger Station—Shoshone National Forest. With amazing teamwork,

planning, and communication of all those involved in the search and rescue mission, we are

pleased to say that the civilians were extracted safely and in good condition.

The search and rescue operation could not have been successful without the assistance of the Lost

Creek Incident Commander, Cody Dispatch, Cody Airport, Wapiti Ranger Station—Shoshone

National Forest, Park County Deputy Sheriff, Park County Search & Rescue, and the WSFD

Helitack. Thank you to all those who assisted with the search and rescue.
