Businesses grab Halloween spirit

October 29, 2020

WORLAND — The Worland-Ten Sleep Chamber of Commerce is co-sponsoring a business costume contest this year.

The event spearheaded by Rachel Casteel of Western Sage Accounting has about a dozen businesses participating with their staff getting dolled up in Halloween attire on Friday, or a few on Saturday.

Casteel asked the businesses to donate what they could as their “entry fee” with funds going to the Big Horn Basin chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

Casteel said she reached her goal of $200.

Voting for the costume contest will begin on Sunday, Nov. 1 on the Worland-Ten Sleep Chamber of Commerce website. A link will also be posted on the chamber’s Facebook Page.

SCARECROWS

This year the Business Events Committee of Worland and Washakie County has sponsored its business scarecrow competition.

Twenty businesses and organizations have participated by decorating a scarecrow outside of their business. Photos will be uploaded and voting online begins this Friday, Oct. 30 and continues through Wednesday, Nov. 4.

Watch the committee’s Facebook page for details and a link to vote.

There will be four awards this year - People’s Choice, first, second and third place (based on votes). Winning entries will receive a plaque with a photo of the scarecrow.
