The lights will go on, but no festivities Friday
November 26, 2020
WORLAND — The third annual Trim-A-Tree Pioneer Square Lighting Ceremony scheduled for Friday has been canceled due to the surge of COVID-19 cases in the county.
Range marketing director Linda Weeks said that they will light up Pioneer Square at 5:30 p.m. Friday night but there will be no festivities in the park.
She said they are encouraging people to come and enjoy the lights at their leisure either from their car while driving past or taking a stroll through the park at night.
The lights will stay on the trees and stay lit through January 2021.
This year they have the largest number of trees decorated with many families returning to decorate trees, along with new families, businesses and organizations.
She said they will still be giving an award for the Best Lit Tree. It will be judged by a three-member panel on Monday. Winner will receive a choice of $500 or one-year free premium broadband ($1,500 value).
