WORLAND - While they were unable to defend their 3A East conference title from 2020, the Worland Warrior boys swimming team still put some of their best times of the season.

The Warriors finished third as a team, scoring 246 points; Rawlins was second with 289 and Buffalo won the meet with 317.

Four Warriors earned All-Conference honors - Zach Cole finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (23.93), Clint Jeffries was second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.00), Gage Stanek was on the 200-yard freestyle team and Traeten Quigley was second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:11.97) and 100-yard butterfly (56.06).

The Warriors 200-yard freestyle relay team (Quigley, Stanek, Jeffries, Cole) finished first with a time of 1:36.51.

To earn All-Conference honors, a swimmer must place in the top two of an event or be on the winning relay team.

"That was the best meet we've had, all season, as a whole team. Our last 400-yard relay added time, but everybody else cut time," said WHS boys swimming assistant coach Justin Howe.

With no meet this weekend, the Warriors will use the remaining practices to prepare for the 3A State meet next weekend in Laramie.

For one last push, Howe and interim head coach Danielle Warren had the Warriors work through the season's toughest practices. Then next week, the taper begins.

"This is a compressed version of it, and by Friday, we'll let up. Then next week we'll begin our taper. To get a taper, you have to build to it, and we're a little behind, but it is what it is," said Howe. "We've got to build up yardage and endurance, and I want them to push themselves for next week."
